Just thought I would send a little update on something new I’ve been working in to my Random Photography offerings – VIDEO!
As most of you know I’ve been primarily a still and action photographer during my 8 years of owning my own business. But we all should be continuing to grow and change, right? So it has been, and continues to be, a fun learning experience – shooting video is quite a bit different than still photography I’m finding. Mostly, it’s a different way of thinking – you have to think and see in “motion”. And while rarely a factor in still photography, audio is just as important, if not even more important as video is.
So, I’ve invested in some new equipment – a way cool Nikon D7000 which shoots full HD video at 1920 x 1080 (and other modes also), a good Rode condenser mic (for that all important audio) and am learning the way cool editing process using Final Cut Pro. Really enjoying the process, and wanted to share a bit of it with my reader(s). Hi Mom!
Here’s a short video I made on a recent aerial job for a different client – hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for dropping by, and I hope you’ll keep checking back and come on this Random journey with me!

Sooo….have I got your attention?
I recently had the honor of photographing something really cool with my friend that owns Slice Custom Cakes!
Who knew something this cool would be right here in Kansas City? My friend Lisa Smart has created the ultimate alternative to a regular boring old cake or even cupcakes – Cake Drops! And let me tell you – they are even more delicious than they look!
I’m going to let the photos speak for themselves, but do yourself a favor and go check out her website Slice Custom Cakes, give her a call and surprise your friends, family, customers with a very unique, awesome, and totally TASTY treat!

I recently had the fun opportunity to work with the cool folks at Aramark, who operate the concessions and merchandising at Kauffman Stadium here in Kansas City. They are really bringin’ the dogs to the ballpark for the 2010 Royals season, and wanted to highlight the new varieties of hot dogs that will be available for the fans at the ballpark.
There are several new ones being added, and man, they are DELICIOUS! Here’s a few random shots of the new fare, so if you get to a game this year, be sure and check ‘em out!
And finally, one of my favorites:
And there are several more that you’ll just have to try for yourself when you come to The K this year. Who knows? Maybe the Royals will be as hot this season as the new dogs in the stands?

However, I had the fun assignment of covering the ESPN Thursday night NCAA game between Missouri and Nebraska. MU was undefeated going into the game, although being ranked 24 in the AP Poll, and Nebraska was ranked at 21.
It had rained most all day, and that situation didn’t change all during the game. And although I’ve got rain covers for myself and my gear, it still was pretty miserable to shoot. On the flipside, the rain did make for some cool shots!
Below are a few of my favorite ones, but many more Random shots are on my website here!
And one of my shots made ESPN’s headline shot on the NCAAFB page from the game:
Although it was wet, chilly, and crowded, it was a really fun game to shoot. I really wish MU would’ve pulled out the win (they blew it in the fourth quarter, losing 27-12), but…it’s a ‘rebuilding year’, right?
Several more of my shots from the game can be found here on my Random Photography website. As usual, thanks for looking, and I’ll hopefully update again soon!
]]>But, I wanted to share with you all a way cool shoot I had recently with Three Dog Bakery. This company is sooo cool! I love working with them, everyone from the corporate office to the store on the Plaza are awesome, incredibly creative, and just FUN people to be around.
Well, for their Fall and Howl-O-Ween treat promotions coming up, they asked if our Great Dane Myla would like to be included in the shoot – I checked with her agent, and discussed it with her, and she “greedily” agreed. So, here’s a first look at the in-store poster that will be in all of the Three Dog Bakery locations soon:
So, Myla was a very good dog, and on her best behavior and did her tricks for everyone,
and then she got what she really wanted:
and:
Don’t these treats look good enough to eat? They are, actually. They are made from all-natural ingredients, so they not only look great – they’re healthy for your dog! (I have to admit – I’ve tried a few myself, and they’re pretty tasty…)
And, here’s a few photos that will be ‘shelf-talkers’ highlighting more of the groovy goodness at ThreeDog:
Overall, it was a great shoot – lots of fun, and Myla had a blast! I wonder if this explains why she’s been sneaking glances of herself in the full-length mirror lately? Think it’s going to her head?
If you get a chance, check out Three Dog Bakery’s website, or visit a store near you, and treat your four-legged furry critters to some delicious goodness that’s also healthy for ‘em!
Myla (SUPERSTAH!) definitely approves!
